Is online counseling right for me?
Online counseling is live therapy using video rather than going to the traditional office setting. You can use a laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone. Sessions can occur anywhere that is convenient for you within the state of North Carolina. I use the HIPAA compliant and secure platform, Simple Practice to conduct sessions virtually.
Online counseling may be ideal for you if:
Your days are too full to take extra time to travel to an office.
You’re anxious about the process of therapy and feel safer in your own environment.
You’re pregnant, or deal with chronic health issues that make travel challenging.
You’re passionate about reducing the likelihood of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
You live in a remote area of North Carolina and can’t find a local provider who has both availability and experience in working with your presenting concerns.
Online counseling may not be ideal for you if:
You’re feeling intensely suicidal, or have recently attempted suicide. You may benefit from working with someone in your local area.
You’re in a living situation that includes violence from others. You may benefit more from working with someone in your area who has access to local resources.
You’re uncomfortable with technology or have worries that you will be spied on through technology.
You do not have access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera.
You find focusing on computer screen distracting or uncomfortable.
